Tent Peak - Tharpu Chuli Climb Itinerary

  • Day 1 On arrival in Kathmandu meet our staff for transfer to hotel.

    On reaching Kathmandu International Airport received by our guide and staff and then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu.

    After checking in your rooms join with other members of the group for Tent Peak-Tharpu Chuli and Annapurna Base Camp trek briefing with other related information required during your stay with us, provided by our expert guides or company staff.

    Evening includes welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurant with folk culture program along with the dinner.

  • Day 2 In Kathmandu with tour of world heritage sites and trek preparation.

    Morning join in our sightseeing tour around world heritage sites of great interest where our city guides will provide you with important information, afternoon free preparation for the trek and climb.

  • Day 3 Drive / Fly to Pokhara 820m (220 k.m - 06 hrs rides (30 mins by air).

    Morning taking a tourist coach or smaller vehicle as per group size for overland drive that leads

    you away and beyond Kathmandu valley heading low warmer areas with views of snowcapped

    mountains. As drive continues on busy main highway past farm villages and town then heading

    Nepal Mid-West to reach at scenic Pokhara city.

    At Pokhara transfer to nice hotels by the serene lake Phewa with views of Annapurna and

    Manaslu mountain range with towering peaks of Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’.

    (Options by air 30 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara)

  • Day 4 Drive to Nayapul and beyond to Siwai and trek to Jhinu village 1,780 m - 06 hrs.

    After a pleasant overnight stop in beautiful Pokhara with marvelous views of Annapurna Himal

    and Machhapuchare peaks 'Fish Tail', after breakfast heading beyond Pokhara valley to begin

    our first days trek. Drive leads along with grand views of Annapurna past farm villages and

    towns and then by bank of Modi River to reach at Bhirethati a charming village around

    Annapurna region.

    From here a short drive to reach at a small farm village at Siwai, where our first day walks starts

    on slow winding trail with uphill to New Bridge following Modi River and then climb on nice

    stone paved steps to reach a high ridge, where Jhinu village located with time here visit its

    natural hot-spring.

  • Day 5 Trek to Chomrong 2,170 m - 04 hrs.

    Today morning walk leads to short day of few hours with uphill to reach a high ridge above Jhinu and Chomrong village, and then downhill brings you at Chomrong village for overnight stop, Chomrong the last permanent Gurung village and gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trekking. 

  • Day 6 Trek to Dovan 2,630 m - 06 hrs.

    From Chomrong morning leads to a short downhill over terraced farm fields to reach at Chomrong river, after crossing over a bridge with uphill to Sinuwa-Danda, a small place with few lodges offers grand views of surrounding rolling green hills, from here walk continues into dense forest till Bamboo is reached, a place with many good lodge located by the Modi River in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forest. From here an hour walk on the gradual up trail to Dovan for overnight stop, situated in the middle of forest Modi River gorge.

  • Day 7 Trek to MBC 3,700 m (Machhapuchare Base Camp) - 04 hrs.

    After a pleasant overnight stop in Dovan, where morning walks leads higher up as vegetation and tree lines drops for high altitude alpine bushes and shrubs, our route leads to follow raging Modi river upstream right up to its source at base camp.

    Walk gets better on some sections of the route with last steep climb to reach at Machhapuchare Base Camp for overnight stop. A nice quiet place with few good lodges located beneath towering North Face of Mt. Machhapuchare.

    Here onward starts of the Annapurna Sanctuary, afternoon relax or short excursion around this tranquil wilderness with views of Annapurna South-Huinchuli, Singu Chuli / Fluted peak as well Annapurna I with Vara Shikar (Annapurna Fang) towards North West.

  • Day 8 Trek to ABC 4,130 m (Annapurna Base Camp) - 03 hrs.

    With pleasant and exciting morning facing views of Annapurna range of peaks, morning leads to a short walk up to reach our main destination at Annapurna base camp, starting our trek heading higher up on grassy hill slopes to reach a small plateau and a level ground.

    As walks leads to Annapurna Base Camp facing breathtaking views of Annapurna peaks that surround you with great giant wall of Mt. Annapurna I.

    After a good scenic walk reaching at Annapurna Base Camp a magnificent spot with few large lodges, offers incredible views of giant snowcapped peaks that encircles this scenic spot at base camp, afternoon at leisure to enjoy mountain views.

    Annapurna area was first explored by the British Adventure Col. James O.M. 'Jimmy' Roberts in the year 1956 and exposed to the world as the 'Sanctuary of Gods'. The Sanctuary has been christened as "Annapurna Sanctuary" ever since.

  • Day 9 Trek to Tent peak Base Camp 4,450 m / 14,600 ft - 05 hrs.

    After a nice stop and time at Annapurna Base Camp, morning walk leads across snow-covered moraine rocky path towards icy trail for an hour reaching a glacier of Annapurna South.

    After few hours of climb walk leads on a flat spot to set our base camp, first night in tents with proper camping facilities of cook and kitchen staff and dining tents including excellent camping meals.

  • Day 10 At Tent Peak base camp acclimatization and preparations.

    A necessary rest day to allow some practice as well for acclimatization on this high elevation having rest and short walk will certainly cope with the high altitude symptoms having grand close views of Tent Peak ahead from the camp.

  • Day 11 Trek to High Camp 5,200 m / 17,056 ft - 04 hrs.

    Adding extra day to make the climb more accessible, from base camp heading further with a steep climb along rocky and icy glacier with lot of boulders, climb continue to reach high camp at 5,200 meters, afternoon free preparation for the summit bid with time to marvel the sunset views over high mountains.

  • Day 12 Climb Tent Peak and descend to base camp - 07 hrs.

    Our final and major day of the adventure, starting early morning walk and climb on snow slope with steep ice and rocks encountering some technical sections as climb leads close to summit;

    Where our expert guide leads you with complete support fixing ropes at necessary sections of the climb, and then with last tough big haul reach the summit at above 5,663 meters high.

    At the summit rewards you with fabulous views of entire Annapurna Himalaya range, and then descend safely back using the same route to base camp.

  • Day 13 Reserve day in case of bad weather condition.

    An important to have a spare or contingency day for this type of technical climb, where weather plays the important role on climb, with reserve day in case of unfavorable weather on summit day, if all goes well according to our itinerary, using this extra day on walk back to road-head with easier and short day on route walks. 

  • Day 14 Trek back to Annapurna Base Camp - 05 hrs.

    Morning after breakfast from base camp, cleaning up the base camp and packing gears, head back to Annapurna Base Camp via an icy path, a normal moderate walk of about five hours to overnight stop at Annapurna base camp.

  • Day 15 Trek from ABC to Bamboo 2,345 m - 06 hrs.

    After a great and enjoyable time at Annapurna Base Camp and within beautiful sanctuary, morning leads on long downhill walk to lower areas, as our route descend to Deurali past Machhapuchare Base Camp, then with few short ups and down following a gradual winding trail back into green forested area to Bamboo for the overnight stay.

    A nice and pleasant spot a temporary settlement with lodges to cater the needs of the trekkers located by the Modi River in a gorge within green bamboo and rhododendron forest.

  • Day 16 Trek to Jhinu village 1,780m with Hot Spring - 06 hrs.

    From Bamboo a short steep climb up to Khuldi Ghar, then on winding downhill path into dense forest to Sinuwa-Danda, and then our walk descends to Chomrong khola. After crossing the bridge an uphill walk for less than an hour to reach at Chomrong village for short rest or lunch stop, after Chomrong a short up for half hour reaching at the top of Chomrong ridge, from here our route descends to Jhinu-Danda for overnight stay, this place offers refreshing hot springs just 20 minutes’ walk downhill near Modi river.

  • Day 17 Trek to Siwai and drive back to Pokhara 860 m - 04 hrs walks and 3 hr drives.

    After a lovely stop at Jhinu enjoying refreshing hot-spring, morning leads to a long descends all the way to Modi River and then reaching at the road-head for exciting and interesting drive to scenic Pokhara for last overnight around Annapurna Himalaya. 

  • Day 18 Drive or Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotels.

    Morning after breakfast travel overland to reach Kathmandu taking about 5-6 hours with interesting and exciting drive through Nepal country-side with many farm villages and towns.

    Shortly after leaving the Trisuli River behind on winding uphill road to reach the valley rim and then back into hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu.

  • Day 19 In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.

    Himalayan Gateway Treks reserves this spare day for you to enjoy free for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

    For interested people can join in our tour around Kathmandu at places of interest or just relax with memories of the adventure.

  • Day 20 International departure for homeward bound.

    Last day in amazing Nepal Himalaya, as per your flight homeward bound or to next respective connecting countries, depart from the hotel for Kathmandu International Airport with fond memories of great marvelous adventure on top Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli Climb within scenic Annapurna.
